It’s funny how the timing of Thanksgiving so strongly effects how everyone jumps into the Christmas season. Last year Thanksgiving was as early as it can be; this year, as late as possible. And boom — December is here.

We had a really great trip to Corpus Christi, maybe the best in quite a while. The girls are old enough that the drive no longer feels like a big deal, and old enough that they have SUCH a blast playing with all their cousins.

We celebrated Thanksgiving at Jose’s brother’s house on Thursday, and went to see Frozen 2 on Friday. That night, we went to the rehearsal and dinner for Mandy and Nicole’s wedding, and then the wedding itself was on Saturday. Lots of family fun overall.
Big things happening in December:
+ All the holiday things! Cookie parties! Seeing the lights! Santa visits! Kid holiday parties! Bring it on.
+ Christmas! I’m super excited this year because my parents and brother David will be coming to Houston to join us for the week of Christmas. It will be extra special to have them with us to celebrate.
December goals:
+ Prioritize sleep and decent eating. I got more sleep each night over the Thanksgiving break than I had in months and as a result, I felt happier and more energetic. WHAT A BIG SURPRISE, I KNOW. I know December will be full of activity but I want to make sure I am treating my body right so that I can really enjoy the month…and hopefully start setting some better habits for 2020.
+ Release Shake & Bake quilt pattern. I’ve gotten great feedback from my pattern testers and they made some great quilts. I plan to release this pattern on Thursday!
+ Make a Christmas quilt. This is my one and only planned quilting project for December. After a big push in October and November to get several quilts made and patterns written to meet various deadlines, I’m planning to let December be a bit more low key. (I may work on more things…but the point is that I don’t have to unless I want to.)
+ Toy purge. We have tons, and of course there is more to come at the end of the month. I’d like to clean out and donate outgrown but still useful toys and games — with the girls’ help — before Christmas. (Ideally, I can make this a yearly event.)
December! Let’s go!
p.s. I’m doing a 31 day blogging challenge.
