I’m kicking off 31 days of blogging this month, just as I’ve done for the past couple years, and will be linking up with muppin.com. Cheryl is providing prompts for each day this year, although I’ll be using them as more of a guide than a direction. In other words, I’ll probably follow the prompts some days (or combine multiple days into one) but do my own thing on others.
I’ve enjoyed daily blogging one month per year more than I thought I might! Years ago I was essentially a daily blogger, writing about whatever thoughts and events happened to be going on that day or week. But as the years have passed, daily blogging has proven to be impossible to maintain. I’m not particularly sad about that — it is what it is. But I do admit to taking a lot of pleasure in occasionally looking back through my own archives! The mundane and unremarkable stuff from my life 5, 10, 15 years ago doesn’t feel mundane and unremarkable to me.
(And in the next month, I can guarantee there will be some mundane and unremarkable content here. Heh.)
So! Before I jump into another 30 posts, a quick intro is in order for those who may be new here. I’m Sarah, a quilter and aerospace engineer living in Houston with my husband and our two daughters.
I started quilting in 2011 and have only grown more and more obsessed. My quilting is a balance of about 80% leisure and 20% professional, with the “pro” part consisting of pattern design, tech editing, and graphic design/illustration. I’m also Vice President of the Gulf Coast Modern Quilt Guild and will be taking over as President in 2020.
As for my day job, I work full-time for NASA and have since college. I’ve had several different roles over the years, with the most “glamorous” being when I was a flight controller for the space shuttle. These days I’m working on the new Gateway program that is in the early stages of development for a small space staton that will orbit the moon. It’s part of NASA’s Artemis program to return people to the moon by 2024.
I plan to write more about both of these — quilting and engineering — in the coming month. Until tomorrow!

I had no idea that there is a monthly blogging challenge in December. I just finished “NaBloPoMo” in November… I like the challenge as well to blog for a whole month once a year! 😉

Yes, I was reading yours! This December one is fairly quilting/sewing-specific, but I’m posting a little more broadly.
