I’m taking this whole week off. Woo! We head out of town on Wednesday for Thanksgiving, but I’m using the next few days as an opportunity to relax, regroup…but also get stuff done. It’s 12:30 and today I have already:
- Dialed into 2 quick meetings (the only work I hope to do this week)
- Gone for a 3-mile walk
- Written & sent the GCMQG monthly newsletter
- Designed & ordered our Christmas cards
- Ordered a few Christmas presents
- Sent invoices for 2 recent quilt pattern tech edits
- Played the NYTimes daily Sudoku and KenKenn puzzles
So, a good day so far.

I’m also looking forward to a week without illness (knock on wood). Charlotte had some sort of virus last week that kept her home from school for a couple days, and then both Jose and I caught it too. With us, it manifested in aches and pains and a general notion of just not feeling great. And Emma was congested and sneezy, so she probably had some of it too.
It’s interesting how we can all get sick with what must be the same germs, but have such different symptoms. But at least it wasn’t flu! The pediatrician said they’ve seen some flu already, but only in those who hadn’t yet gotten a flu shot. (And three of the four of us have had our shot.)

Yesterday we took a family trip to the new Color Factory that opened recently in Houston. I’ve been following one of the founders for years, but somehow I missed the fact that they were opening a Houston location! It’s just the 3rd one after San Francisco and New York.
Y’all, it was SO FUN. Truly a crowd pleaser for both kids and adults. If you are in Houston I highly recommend paying them a visit. The tickets are admittedly kinda pricey, but I think worth it. There’s delightful moments in every room with lots of fun little treats, and overall it’s just a really well-done experience.

In other exciting news, we have a new next door neighbor! He’s 9 days old and super cute.
As I told Jose last week: “I’m super excited to have a baby around again, and super excited that it doesn’t live at OUR house.”
Heh.

I’m gearing up for another month of daily blogging in December as I’ve done the past couple years. If there’s anything in particular you’ve always wanted me to write about, let me know! Quilting, working at NASA, and family stuff are all on the agenda so far.
