Big things happening in August:
+ Vacation. Yaaaaay! I’m looking forward to forgetting about work, enjoying some (slightly) cooler weather, getting outside, and of course spending time with my family.
+ Emma’s 7th birthday. We’ll be celebrating with my whole family this year which will be so great! And since my nephew’s birthday is the day before — he and Emma were born less than 24 hours apart — it’ll be doubly great!
+ Emma starts 2nd grade and Charlotte moves to Room 9. It’s hard to believe we are solidly into the elementary school years. And while Charlotte still has 2 years before kindergarten thanks to her September birthday, she’ll still be moving up.
August goals:
+ Organize birthday celebrations for both Emma and Charlotte. We’ll be out of town on Emma’s actual birthday, but she still wants to do something with her friends. I’m hoping for something more casual — maybe inviting a few of them over to the pool? And for Charlotte, I need to get something booked for her early September birthday.
+ Set up some sort of calendar/command center by our back door. Since neither Jose or I have our work calendars on our personal phones anymore — and since we use our work calendars for everything — I’ve been wanting to put something up at home to help us keep track of activities. We have just enough wall space by our back door for a dry erase calendar. I just need to choose one and get it hung.
+ Stop sewing and/or other hobby work by 11 p.m. I’ve been working hard on several fun projects lately, but I’ve also been staying up ridiculously late. My bedtime has crept closer to 1 a.m. than midnight, and I’m exhausted. I don’t know why I keep doing this to myself.
+ Work out at least twice per week. I’m staying up late to do lots of stuff, but exercising is not one of them. I’ve lost a bit of weight from eating less, but I know I’d feel even better with more physical activity. I’m setting the bar low at twice per week to get myself going again.
Happy August!
Why don’t you guys have your work calendars on hour phones any more?
Oh, the IT setup changed a couple months ago and made it really difficult to have work resources on personal devices. You can do it, but there are a lot of hoops to jump though and you have to agree that they can wipe your entire phone if they decide they need to. So most people just don’t have access outside of work anymore. I was a little concerned but it’s turned out to be awesome, actually.
They did give me a work phone as part of the change. But I leave it in my work bag and only use it during the work day.
