It’s day 80 of this year’s 100 day project! This year I’m doing #100daysofsaroystitches and have been working my way down a list of ~10 different projects that I wanted to either make significant progress on or completely finish before the 100th day arrives in mid-July.
Previous project updates: Days 1-20, Days 21-40, Days 41-60
Here’s what I’ve been working on in the last few weeks:
Library quilt. I had finished the top in time for Jose’s birthday, but didn’t get it quilted until we got back from Disney World earlier this month. It’s officially finished now and has taken up a permanent place on our couch.
GCMQG challenge mini quilt. My guild is doing an “ugly fabric challenge” and all participants got a bag of 3 fat quarters of fabric. I don’t know where it came from or what time period — maybe the 80s? — but it is definitely NOT modern. Nonetheless, I’ve got a fun mini quilt in the works to turn that old fabric into something new!
FMQ class. Last weekend I took a free motion quilting class at Sparkly Elephant and had a great time. I have admittedly read enough about FMQ that there wasn’t a lot of new information…but it was good to hear it again and more importantly, I had a solid 3-4 hours to practice my skills. FMQ on my domestic machine has been very intimidating to my perfectionist mindset, but this class gave me a bit of newfound confidence. I have this quilt top that’s waiting to be quilted, and plan to use it for some more FMQ practice soon.
Bob Ross challenge mini. I was working on this way back in April at the beginning of the 100 Day Project, and am finally getting back to it since the deadline for the Cherrywood Challenge is July 1. I’m paper piecing a ton of tiny letters and still chugging along with 5 colors done and 3 to go. (The pattern is Alphabet pattern by Diane Bohn; I’m shrinking them down to 2″ tall.)
80 days in! I’ve made a lot of great progress on the aggressively long list of projects I had at the beginning of this year’s 100 Day Project, and already have three finished quilts and two finished quilt tops to show for it. With 20 days to go, I anticipate having 2 more finished mini quilts by the end of it! Wish me luck!
