First, a wrap-up of my goals from the first quarter of 2019:
- Get Spring Training and our GCMQG charity quilt prepped and shipped to QuiltCon. Done!
- Participate in the MQG Mini Quilt Swap. Done!
- Write 1 new quilt pattern. Well, I wrote several quilt patterns…but for other people, and that wasn’t really the intent of this goal.
- Finish my Rainbow Triangles BOM quilt. Nope.
- Make progress on my Pollinate quilt. A little. Not as much as I’d hoped, but a little.
- Participate in a blog hop. Done! (And done, and done.)
- Also done:
- Had a blast at QuiltCon.
- Started the Trinket sew-along.
- Three patterns ghost-written for clients and a 4th in work.
- Graphic design and tech editing for multiple clients.
- Taught 3 classes at my local shop.
And now, goals for April-June:
- Start a 100 Day Project. I’ve done this the past 2 years and really enjoyed it. This year, I’m planning #100daysofsaroystitches. I have quite a few quilts I’d like to get made in the next 3 months (see below) but my “sew-jo” has been rather lacking since the beginning of the year. I hope this project will get me going again! It will also be more open-ended than my previous two projects, and I’m curious to see how that feels.
- Finish Trinket SAL and class. I agreed to teach a class to follow this sew-along at my local shop, so I’ve been working on the blocks myself as well! (That’s the first 20 in the photo above. There are 40 total.) I’ve already taught 2 of the 3 class sessions we planned, with the final one still to come in early May.
- Guild challenge. My guild is planning another fabric challenge that will start this month and finish at our June meeting. I made this quilt last year and that went pretty dang well, so here’s hoping I can do something good this year too.
- Commissioned quilts. A friend of mine sadly lost her father last year, and when she asked me if I knew anyone who could turn his shirts into 2 quilts (one for her, one for her mom), I offered to make them myself. I don’t have a set deadline, but I also don’t want to let these linger.
- Birthday quilt. Can you believe I’ve never made a quilt for my husband? I plan to change that this year.
- Make a quilt for the Pantone challenge. I participated in 2017, skipped it last year, but I want to play again. I intend to turn this design (the second, confetti-ish one) into reality using a tweaked coral-tastic color palette.
- Make a mini quilt for the Cherrywood Fabrics Bob Ross challenge. I bought the fabric bundle for this challenge at QuiltCon so I’m committed! But so far I’m stumped on what to make! Good thing the deadline isn’t until July 1…
Whew! Ok by my count I’ve only finished one quilt in 2019 yet I have at least 7 quilts on my list for my 100 Day Project. That seems…ambitious?
<insert crazy laugh here>
I better get started.
