I usually try to have a couple days to myself during Christmas to spend a few hours relaxing and a few hours taking care of long-put-off to-do items around the house. But with the way the days line up this year and our vacation plans, that day is…tomorrow, and tomorrow only.
And since I’ll be spending a bunch of time wrapping gifts and taking care of final Christmas prep, all those things I’ve been procrastinating about — weeding through both girls’ closets to get rid of stuff they no longer can wear, doing some decluttering and deep cleaning of neglected areas like the pantry and laundry room, tackling a few minor home improvement tasks like painting our small half bathroom or changing the light fixture in my sewing room — are definitely not going to happen.
Seriously, how does anyone find the time to do this kind of stuff? I suppose the “problem” is that when I do have free time, I choose to spend it in other, more fun ways.
Eh. It’ll all get done eventually, and if it doesn’t, it must not have been that important, right?

I may not be completing any lingering tasks, but I’ve been checking things off my list left and right in other areas this week. Whew! I got our Christmas cards mailed out a couple days ago, and took care of teacher gifts for both girls. I managed to stay on top of school activities enough that nothing major got missed. All Christmas presents except one — a new bike for Emma — have been purchased and either delivered or on their way. (We’re planning to take Emma to get a new bike this weekend, since we want her to be able to help choose it.)

Last night, thousands of people who have created their own pattern shops on Craftsy got an email that their shop will either be shut down or put somewhat “on hold” due to a large revamp they are planning to their Marketplace.
I’m one of the lucky few who will get to keep my shop! I suspect it’s because I have an ongoing relationship writing patterns for them and am therefore more of a “known quantity,” but I couldn’t say for sure. but who really knows?
The timing is interesting for me, since I have been doing a bit of behind-the-scenes planning to refresh/update my old patterns and make better use of my Craftsy shop. I’m optimistic that once we learn more about the changes, it will turn out to be ok. We shall see!
(I’m also thinking about whether it’s time for me to pony up some $$$ to have someone build a small site with a shop capability for me. I’ve always done my web stuff myself, but as the tech has grown in complexity and my time has shrunk, I haven’t kept up with all my options and don’t feel comfortable doing some of it on my own. Hmm.)
p.s. I’m doing a 31 day blog writing challenge!
