Despite a pretty foreboding weather forecast, Halloween turned out to be a rousing success! It rained most of the day, but magically stopped between about 6:00 and 8:00, providing a perfect window for trick-or-treating before the predicted cold front came barreling through with a ton of lightning and thunder around 9:30.
We started out around 6:45, joined up with a few neighborhood friends, and made it to a good chunk of houses both on our block and on the main neighborhood loop. Right around 7:45 when the kids were starting to slow down and complain that their candy bags were heavy, it started to rain again — which turned out to be the perfect way to encourage everyone to head home.
We let the girls stay up a bit later, just long enough to decorate some Halloween cookies that our neighbor had given us. All in all, it was a fun night!
(We carved our pumpkin on Tuesday and both girls really got into it this year — they were even arguing over who got to scoop out the next spoonful of seeds and pumpkin innards. Ha!)
Earlier in the day, Charlotte got to trick-or-treat around the daycare with her friends, which is always a fun event.
A happy Halloween indeed!
