Emma’s got a school holiday today, and instead of sending her to childcare for the day I decided to take the day off as well. We’re meeting up with some of her old NASA daycare buddies at Jump n Jungle for some jumping and lunch with the Easter bunny. After that, who knows!

This year’s 100 day project kicks off next Tuesday and I’m considering what I’d like to do after a successful run with #100daysofsaroypatterns last year. My criteria haven’t changed — it needs to be something simple, and easy to accomplish in no more than 15-20 minutes per day. The leading candidate so far is something to do with lettering, something I’ve always been interested in but never taken the time to practice. This project is the perfect way to both indulge that interest and motivate me to spend some time on it. A word a day? A drop cap a day (a la this well-known project)?
Another idea is hand stitching, which has certainly been done many times but uniqueness isn’t a factor in my decision making as long as it’s something fun for me. I could do an English paper piecing project, or an embroidery sampler, or finally put my Constellation quilt kit to use — just something to get me sitting down quietly for a small bit each day.
I also thought about something related to screen or block printing on fabric, to get me practicing the skills I picked up in my QuiltCon classes. The problem there is mainly that it’s an involved process, and it’s pretty unlikely I could print something in only 15-20 minutes a day. But this could work if I break it down a bit more — something like 100 days of screen printing, where I just work on it each day and do a print every week or so? Hmm.
Well, I’ve got a couple more days to figure it out.

I never wrote a dedicated post about it, but we did make our essentially-mandated-for-all-Houston-residents annual outing to the rodeo a few weeks ago. We’ve yet to take the girls to the actual rodeo part — you know, with bull riding and calf roping, etc — but we always check out the livestock show and carnival and enjoy lunch and various treats. Emma was more daring than ever at the carnival, going on several rides all by herself and going on a couple adult rides with Jose or me. It won’t be long until she and Charlotte are off riding them on their own while Jose and I relax with our fried Oreos. Ha!
