I’m currently sitting at my computer at home listening to the tinkling sound of sleet hitting the window next to me. Craziness! Houston’s second winter storm in as many months! I mean, there are actual no-kidding icicles on that bush!
The local schools announced last night that they’d be closed today, including the community colleges, so Jose’s first day of teaching for the semester was also delayed. The space center said they’d be open…but we both decided to stay home. That proved to be a good decision, since when the predicted bad weather did indeed show up, the center decided to close at 10:30 this morning. It was nice that we were already toasty and warm at home!
(Oh, and we were all off yesterday for MLK day, so it’s now become a 4-day weekend.)
I was supposed to interview for a new position today, but that got cancelled as well and will be rescheduled in a couple weeks. More time to prepare…or more time to procrastinate…we’ll see.
I was also scheduled to have oral surgery tomorrow morning (another round of this “fun”) and it’s already been preemptively cancelled as well since temperatures aren’t supposed to get back above freezing until late morning or lunchtime. I originally scheduled the date back in September or October and now with the combination of their availability, Jose’s teaching, and our vacation plans for the next couple months, I may not be able to get it rescheduled until April. Again, I know being cautious and letting people stay off the roads is the right thing to do but uggggggh I was ready to get this procedure over with.
But oh well. In the meantime: bonus “snow” day!
Off to go drink another cup of hot coffee and watch the ice come down!
