Well, the shutdown was short lived and today it’s back to work.
I made the most of my 3/4 of a day without a job. After going in for a couple hours in the morning, I came home to finish up some quilt pattern tech editing, then went out to a long bbq lunch with Jose and a couple friends. It was a little chilly, but that didn’t stop us from sitting in the sun and enjoying the outdoor patio. We found out while eating that the Senate had reached some sort of deal, so we knew our furlough would only last the day.
From there, we went back home for a bit before deciding it was finally time to update our 3+ year old phones, so we are the proud new owners of an iPhone 8 (me) and iPhone 8 Plus (Jose). And thanks to previously made plans, I was able to cap off our “vacation” day having dinner and dessert with my old friend Karen who had flown in for a couple days to attend a conference in Galveston.
All in all it was quite a nice little day.
