Well, on Saturday we officially became artificial Christmas tree people.
Despite my initial misgivings, the more I thought about it, the more I realized that it probably made the most sense for us in this phase of life. We can put it up early and leave it up even if we go out of town. And most importantly, it can’t dry out!
We got this one from Lowe’s. They didn’t have it in stock at our local store, which turned out to be a good thing since I then came home, looked it up online, and found out that it was 25% off online whereas it had been full price in the store. I quickly ordered it, chose “store pickup” from another Lowe’s in the area, and a few hours later it was glowing in our living room.
(And speaking of glowing, this thing has 9 — count ’em, NINE — different lighting modes. There’s white lights, colored lights, fading lights, blinking lights, and all combinations of those.)
Is it as pretty as a real tree? No, of course not, but it’s actually not half bad and man was it easy. It looks a little skimpy in spots, but once we got the ornaments on it looked pretty darn festive. In retrospect, adding some sort of garland would probably make it look a little fuller but since the ornaments are already on that ship has sailed for now. Next year!
p.s. I’m doing a 31 day blog writing challenge!
Looks gorgeous! We put ours up yesterday. There’s a local tree farm that we’ve been going to for a few years and it feels nice to support them. Last year we did a tree from Lowe’s because logistics/weekends were screwed up, but otherwise we kept the live theme.
You’ll have to update and let us know how you like it as the season goes!
I think we have a couple local tree farm options around here but I haven’t looked into them and honestly, they grow a different kind of tree than what I picture as a “Christmas tree.” I recognize that I’m possibly being wayyyyyy too picky about the “right” kind of tree, but it is what it is…
