Yesterday morning, we woke up to SNOW! Like real, actual, packable, fluffy SNOW on the bushes and roofs and cars and even on the ground in certain places like our neighborhood park. The last time this happened — when it actually stuck to things instead of just melting on contact — was 2008. In other words, my girls have never seen snow in real life, and odds are that it’ll be several years before they see it again.
So when I peeked outside at 7:15 and saw white stuff, we bundled up the girls in a mish-mash of whatever winter gear we could find in the house (because when you live in Houston, keeping coats and hats and gloves at the ready isn’t usually a priority) and headed outside. The girls were late to school but whatever — a once-in-a-decade snow day is worth a little tardiness!
p.s. I’m doing a 31 day blog writing challenge!

Awesome. As for being late to school, you could just say icy, snowy road conditions delayed you. You didn’t think it was safe to come in early.

Ha! Except it melted the instant it hit the roads… Actually, the school decided not to issue tardies for anyone who was there by 9:00 (start time is 8:15) so it totally wasn’t a big deal at all. Yay!

Well
I hope that orange tree is frost tolerant.
So sad I missed Houston snow AgAIN!
