When my friend Karen had her first baby, I made him a quilt (of course). So when a new little sister joined the family, she obviously needed one too! She was born back in April, but I didn’t finish this until September, and then took 2+ weeks to actually get to the UPS store to mail it…so it ended up being a 6-month birthday present. Ha!
The pattern is Corner Crest by Michelle Bartholomew for Quilt Theory. It’s super simple, although the blocks do take a bit of time since there are a couple rounds of sewing and trimming involved. The blues are from a layer cake (10″ squares) of Kona cotton curated by Jaybird Quilts. The background looks plain white in these photos, but it’s really a white-on-very-light-gray print by Lizzy House. I had actually ordered something else for the background originally, but it turned out to be out of stock. I went back to the drawing board and picked this, which I think actually worked out even better!
Once the blocks were all finished, Emma helped me lay them out and when we were both satisfied, I stitched the rest of the top together! I quilted it with diagonal lines in both directions, and the backing and binding are the same print from the Luxe collection by Michael Miller.
I loved this one and kinda wanted to keep it for myself! (I know I say that every time but it’s true.) But I know it will have many happy years in its new home.

It looks great, Sarah. I’m always excited to see a finished Quilt Theory quilt! 🙂
