Laughing // At Charlotte’s antics. She’s still not walking…but I guess she is fine with face-planting into the carpet?
Searching // For my writing and blogging mojo. It seems to have disappeared, along with my motivation for many other things. When I sit down at the computer to write a blog post, I end up staring at the screen for a bit and then wandering off elsewhere. I’ve been reading a lot lately instead, and of course continuing the process of getting settled into the house. But I’m feeling a little off overall, and hoping that fall will bring some fresh air.
Running // Again, after a 6-month break due to…absolutely nothing at all. I’m doing the half marathon in January — slowly, of course, and with no goal other than to get back out there for Houston’s big running event for the first time since 2011. The eternal question of how to most effectively fit exercise into my weekly routine is still there. The answer, for at least the next 4 months, is that I have to prioritize it. I’ve only run before work on rare occasions, but two recent changes mean that I may be able to give morning runs a legitimate chance. First is that I will no longer have any regular 7 a.m. meetings or telecons, thanks to transferring one of my roles at work to a new person. Second is that we live a lot closer to work now, which makes it possible to run in the morning without having to get up insanely early.
Feeling // Upset by the protests and violence happening in my hometown, but also angry at the cause. Why do unarmed black people keep dying at the hands of police? Why do some react to violence with more violence? I feel so utterly helpless. When will this end?
Frustration along with sadness for our beautiful hometown
God what I wouldn’t give to get back into a running routine! Good luck with your half-marathon training and please share the highs and lows with us!
Thanks! It’ll be an adventure for sure. I used to run a couple half marathons per year…but the last one I did was in 2011 so it’s been a loooong while.
Just had a chance to watch the video – Charlotte is such a cutie!
Made me smile!
