Here’s how I did in July…
Minimize extraneous purchases. I made this goal (and the next) because I was pretty sure we’d be moving this month, and of course that’s now official. I did pretty well overall! I did buy a new pair of shorts because I only had a couple that fit, and I bought fabric to make Emma’s birthday present. Other than that, I kept other purchases really minimal so I’m proud of that.
Start purging our stuff. Oh, I started all right. We now have several boxes of books to take to Half Price Books and several boxes/bags to be donated. I saw a donatestuff.com truck driving around the other day so I looked them up and apparently they’ll come to your house to get your donations? Has anyone used this service before? It looks like they pick up in League City on Saturdays but having them come to the house instead of me having to load everything up and drive it somewhere sounds really appealing.
Plan Emma’s birthday party. Mostly done! The party is this weekend. I ordered cupcakes from Kroger on Saturday. I just need to get some balloons and a few small decorations and we should be good to go.
Rock a solo parenting weekend. Did it!
And here’s what I’m tackling in August…
Move. One word. Huuuuuuuge amount of stuff involved.
Get our current/soon-to-be-old house on the market. I want our current house on the market by the end of August. This is doable as long as we stick to the schedule: get everything moved to the new house, make a couple minor fixes (mainly paint and professional carpet cleaning), take photos, and get it listed.
Plan a “party” for Charlotte’s birthday. I’m thinking a 1st Birthday/Housewarming party on Labor Day weekend. We won’t be fully unpacked by that point I’m sure, but as long as the kitchen is in order and there are places to sit it should be fine.
