Jose spent the weekend in Austin with his friend Seth, which meant it was a girls’ weekend at home for Emma, Charlotte and me!
We started with Emma’s gym class on Saturday. Charlotte and I usually stay at home, but we had fun sitting and watching all the activity. (Also, it is still crazy to me that Charlotte has curly hair!)
After that, we all had lunch at Chick-Fil-A before heading home for naps. Since Charlotte missed her usual morning nap, they both were ready to sleep which was awesome all around. Simultaneous naps are THE BEST, but they don’t happen very often yet since Charlotte still naps twice a day — at least most of the time. (She didn’t this weekend, but took a single monster nap both days instead.)
When they got up, we played around the house for a bit before going to Target to get a birthday present for Emma’s friend.
That night, Charlotte didn’t want to go to sleep, so on a whim I moved this light/music machine into her room. Emma used it every single night for a couple years but it’s been sitting on her dresser for months now unused. She was happy to let Charlotte enjoy it!
Yesterday I made pancakes for breakfast and then we went to Emma’s friend’s birthday party at a local splash pad. It was hot, but I brought swimming stuff for Charlotte and myself and getting wet helped a lot. Both girls crashed hard when we got home while I sat on the couch eating ice cream (mom win!) and when they got up, we just hung out at home for the rest of the day.
At bath time, I decided to try putting Charlotte in the big tub with Emma for the first time. I thought she’d love it — Emma certainly did — but instead she screamed like it was the worst possible torture so after a quick dousing, I took her out. She calmed down and went to bed, and then Emma and I read books before she went to sleep too.
When Jose got home I was enjoying a hard cider and relaxing. All in all we had a great girls’ weekend!

Hmm, I’m about to enjoy a girl’s weekend. Hopefully mine will go as well as yours did.
