Writing // My first day in the life post in about 9 months. I managed to remember to document my day yesterday, but my photo-taking wasn’t really that great. Still, I think the one above — all of us in the car leaving work/daycare on our way to swimming classes — is a perfect depiction of life at the moment. (You can even see Charlotte reflected in the mirror!) I’m hoping to get the post done by tomorrow so I can join Julia’s summer DITL roundup. We’ll see.
Thinking // About plans for the weekend. We’ve got a kid birthday party at a local splash pad on Sunday, and I think another trip to the neighborhood pool is probably in order too, given that it’s been the hottest week so far around here. The humidity in particular has been killer — nothing like mid-morning temps in the 80s but already “feels like” the low 100s, right? (Riiiiight.)
Reserving // Some time at one of the local bouncy house places for Emma’s birthday party. I’ve asked her several times over the last few weeks where she wants to have her party and her answer has stayed consistent, so I’m going for it.
Typing // 106 words per minute! I saw a mention of this test on another blog and couldn’t resist trying it myself. Obviously I was trying to type really fast for the test, so I’m assuming my usual rate is a bit slower. But I’ve been told that I type fast on several occasions, and it was nice to have that validated. Ha.
Enjoying // The free monthly wallpapers from Smashing Magazine. I’ve been using these for months on both my home and work computers and there’s just something fun about changing the look of my desktop every month.
Ooh, that typing test was fun! I am a fast typist, too. 99 wpm for me. Happy weekend!
ok, that typing test! 101 wpm. I found the way they scrolled the words a little difficult to follow so it slowed me down I think. I suspect I might type faster than the test measured. Also, people do mention my ridiculous typing speed. I am also a loud typer, one of the reasons I switched to a mac because people are always like “i hear you banging away at your keyboard”)
Im also a loud type-r. I know it annoys a lot of people but what can I do about it???
So I have a great story related to this. A few years ago I was in a rather high level meeting and was taking notes on my laptop, and someone actually turned around and asked me if I could type more quietly because I was distracting them. I had no idea how to react, so I just kind of shrugged and said I would try. (And then kept typing, because I needed the notes and I can type WAY faster than I can write.)
I love your “Day in the Life” blog posts! Can’t wait to read it!
112 wpm.
And a significantly elevated heart rate.
