Three friends had babies in the last several months, which called for a series of quick and easy baby quilts. This one, that I decided to call my Brick Quilt since it kind of looks like bricks and mortar, is the third! (Here are the first two.) And this one immediately replaced the first as the quickest quilt I’ve ever made since I started it on Saturday night and finished it on Monday!
(I’ve really been loving this series of quick and easy quilts so much that there may be a 4th…because Charlotte could certainly use one, right?)
The fabric is all from Natalie Lymer’s Greatest Adventure collection. I liked the colors and thought the overall theme would be great for a little boy, particularly with the print of a boy playing with all sorts of fun things. The large bricks are 12″ wide and the “mortar” blocks are 3″ for a finished size of 42″ square.
This one is constructed with the same simple method — a pieced top and minky backing, with the backing folded around to the front for a self-binding technique. No batting. And minimal quilting, just enough to keep the two layers from shifting.
I’m putting this one in the mail today. Fingers crossed that the tiny recipient enjoys it!

Fast quilts can be such a joy! I love how the design really lets the fun prints shine. I’m sure it will be well loved and cuddled.
