When I asked Jose what he wanted to do for Father’s Day — his first as a father of two! — he chose to head over to the Houston Museum of Natural Science. It had been a little over a year since our last visit, so after a pancake breakfast, we all piled into the car and headed into Houston. It was fun to wander around the museum with both girls, and Emma was really excited to see the dinosaurs in particular. Last year they scared her a bit, but this year she thought they were pretty cool.
We visited the butterfly garden, where Emma alternated between admiring all of the different colors on the butterfly wings and being scared when they fluttered a little too close to her face. (She’s scared of most bugs at the moment. Or rather, she likes looking at them but doesn’t like the idea of them touching her.)
And we saw a short show in the newly-renovated planetarium, where Charlotte took a nap in my arms while Emma asked Jose about all the different stars and planets.
We finished off the day with a trip to the neighborhood pool and dinner at home. All in all, it was a pretty nice day. I’m very happy to have Jose as my parenting partner in crime, and our girls are lucky to have such a great dad!
