I’m celebrating my own 30 Days of Creativity this month for the fifth (!) year in a row.
June 8-9 – I continued work on my cross stitched wooden pendant. I didn’t take a photo on the 9th, so it’s a little farther along than this photo implies. Still, despite its relatively small size, progress is a little slow. Cross stitch always takes longer than I think it will! But I like how this is turning out and plan to finish it this month.
June 10 – Jose and I had date night and I collapsed into bed pretty much as soon as we got home, so there wasn’t a ton of time to squeeze in some creativity. However, we did hang out at Barnes and Noble for about 45 minutes and while there, I browsed through several quilting magazines in search of ideas for the next few quilts on my “to do” list. I know who I’ll be making them for, but hadn’t decided on a design or fabric. I got some good ideas!
June 11-13 – I finished Emma’s quilt at last! Repeat: I FINALLY FINISHED IT. As soon as I got home from work yesterday, I threw it in the washing machine and Emma was able to sleep with it on her bed last night for the first time. She was pretty excited about it, which made me extremely happy. I’ll take some pictures of it later this week for a more in-depth post about it.
June 14 – With Emma’s quilt finally done, my brain immediately jumped into overdrive on my next project. I’ve got fabric on the way for a baby-sized Swoon quilt and though I did buy the pattern, I’m going to have to do the math to resize the block from 24″ to about 40″ to fit my purposes here. (This was the inspiration — one big block.) The planning phase is one of my favorite parts of the entire quilting process, so I’m super excited to dive into a new project.

Hello! I love the quilt you started planning on the 14th! May I ask what kind of journal you use to plot out your projects? I’ve been printing out sheets of graph paper, but would love to have all of my projects/ideas in one spot. 🙂

Hey Melissa! This is actually a planner — the Get to Work Book. At the beginning and end of each month it has a few gridded pages that work really well for quilt projects. If you don’t want a planner, check out a Moleskine notebook — I know they make gridded notebooks in a couple different sizes.

I love that you guys end up at B&N on your date nights too!

It’s impossible to actually browse there with kids in tow! It’s pretty much a regular date night occurrence for us — dinner and the bookstore. Ha!
