NASA’s new space tourism posters are spellbinding | The Verge
NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (better known as JPL) commissioned three new “space travel” posters from Seattle-based design studio Invisible Creature and they are AMAZING. I neeeed this “Grand Tour” poster in my office, stat. You can print your own copy too — the files are available for free on JPL’s website.
How Mir Became Humanity’s Foothold in Space | Popular Mechanics
Last Saturday was the 30th anniversary of the launch of the first piece of the Russian space station Mir, which orbited the Earth from 1986 until its fiery demise in 2001. I have many fond memories associated with it — from the shuttle flights there in the mid-1990s, just as my interest in space was starting to take off, to the stories my coworkers told about their minor role in Mir’s deorbit and reentry when I started full-time in 2002.
I don’t know how long NASA has had a Tumblr blog, but I just discovered it this week — and it’s pretty good!
