It’s morning, and Emma has come in early and climbed in bed on Jose’s side as she does basically every morning these days. She is always full of morning energy.
Jose (tiredly): “Emma, can you just be quiet for 5 more minutes?”
Emma: “Daddy, that’s impossible.”
Jose: “Emma, it’s possible. It’s very possible.”
Emma (firmly): “No Daddy, no. It’s impossible.”
—
And another one from an early morning — while poor Jose tries to sleep for those elusive 5 more minutes, Emma points at his head and:
Emma: “Dad, you need to grow some hair right here.”

Upon noticing the new exhibit of a shuttle mockup on the shuttle carrier aircraft at Space Center Houston, which you can see peeking over the trees as we leave work/daycare every day:
Emma: “Look Mom, that building is holding airplanes!”
—
Me: “That’s a submarine. Do you know what that is?”
Emma: “Yeah.”
Me: “What is it?”
Emma: “It lives in the water and sinks.”

A monologue to Jose based on reading “Beauty and the Beast” before naptime:
Emma: “Dad I like wolves. I like them because they have sharp teeth. And when they open their mouths we can see their sharp teeth. But when their mouths are closed, we can’t see their sharp teeth.” (pause) “Daddy, let’s go to the woods to see the wolves.”

We are in the car on the way home from work/daycare one day:
Emma (holding up a finger with a hangnail): “Mommy we need to cut this.”
Me: “Ok, we’ll trim it when we get home.”
…
Emma: “Ok Mommy it’s fixed.”
Me: “Huh? What did you cut it with?”
Emma: “With these white things in my mouth.”

I love these and Emma-isms in general. I always seem to forget Isla-isms before I can write them down!
