Celebrating // 2016! I spent the last day of the year cleaning out my closet and our pantry with “supervision” from Charlotte (see below) while Emma played at daycare. Jose picked her up early and we all went for frozen yogurt, then came home for dinner and Emma’s movie choice — which, rather unsurprisingly, was “Frozen.” After the girls were in bed, Jose and I relaxed, drank wine, and celebrated the first moments of the new year. All in all it was an ordinary low-key evening, and that was actually pretty perfect.
Anticipating // A new morning routine. Monday is the big day — Charlotte’s first day of daycare — and I’m trying to figure out the best way to get us all up and dressed and out the door in one piece at a reasonable hour. The obvious answer is that I’ll need to get up earlier. That’s a bummer, but I doubt it will work any other way.
Finishing // My January pattern of the month offering. In the craziness of December, I don’t quite have it ready to go today so I’ll publish it on Monday.
Starting // My next quilt. I’m loving the fabrics already and plan to start cutting into them today! The design involves half square triangles in different sizes. I’m excited to see how it turns out.
I’m currently getting up at 6:20 am to get to work at 8:25. And I’d really like to be at work a bit earlier, so it looks like I’m going to have to get up even earlier. I remember rolling out of bed at 7:48 for 8 am classes!
I’ve been getting up at 7. Jose would get Emma ready while I got ready, then Emma and I would both leave at 7:45. I’d be sitting down at my desk by 8:30. (The fixed piece in our morning is that the daycare stops serving breakfast at 8:30, so Emma has to be there by 8:20 at the latest.) But I don’t think a 7 am wakeup is going to work anymore — I think we’ll have to shift back to 6:30.
And college — those were the days, right? At least as far as sleep was concerned!
