I’m still plugging away on the quilt for my niece. For those keeping score at home, I started this one way back in August! But of course Charlotte arrived shortly after. I think I’ll be able to finish this one by Thanksgiving and hey — taking 3 months to finish a quilt when I have a new baby in the house is pretty darn speedy in my book. I’m excited to wrap it up and send it off to its new home!
In other news, I’m also cutting lots of tiny triangles out of my scraps to be used for a rainbow-tastic mini kaleidoscope quilt. I mentioned in my quilt festival post that I’ve been inspired by more traditional quilts lately like a kaleidoscope layout. I’d also love to play around with the storm at sea and flowering snowball patterns, so we’ll see where that takes me in the coming months.
I’ve also been buying a lot more fabric than I can use lately, tempted by some good deals or just really pretty fabric. I’ve got several fat quarters bundles sitting around and some half yards too. I’m not typically the kind of quilter that keeps a huge stash — I tend to buy with a specific project in mind, and (usually) make those projects as intended. So while it’s fun to see the pretty fabric arriving, I think I’ll be on a fabric-buying hiatus for the near future.

oh, those fabrics all look great. The top quilt and the triangles for the next project. If you bought such lovely fabric “again” it will become a nice quilt as well 🙂

Finding even the energy to sew with a new baby in the house is pretty amazing. You’ve made good progress. Based on the fabrics you’ve gotten cut, your rainbow mini is going to be bright and fun.

Love both the niece quilt and the scraps you are saving for a kaleidoscope – great colors. And I’m super impressed you’re getting that much done with a wee one at home – I clicked back to your quilt festival post, she is quite a cutie!
