Charlotte is 3 weeks old today, and I’m back to doing crafty stuff! A few minutes here and a few minutes there totally counts…right?
Last week I found myself at Joann’s for the first time in a while — not for me, but to buy some yarn for Jose’s mom, who was crocheting a hat for Emma while she was here. But of course I ended up finding something for myself! I thought this string art kit would be great for Charlotte’s room. The nails were already in the wood, so all I had to do was wind the string. It came with some weird orangey-pink thread, but I decided it would look much nicer in yellow. Easy and fun!
(Someone on Instagram asked me where I found this at Joann. It was on an aisle end cap in the woodworking section. I couldn’t find this particular one on their website, but they have a few others available online. The brand is “Fab Lab.”)
Yesterday I spent a whopping 15 minutes doing some paper piecing. Woohoo!. And despite being tempted to dive into the Loominous quilt that I was thinking about last week, I managed to stay disciplined (for now anyway) and returned to the baby quilt I’m making for my niece.
And finally, in case you missed yesterday’s post, I published the pattern for the paper-pieced bluebonnet block that I designed (and turned into a tote bag) as an extra for the Texas Mini Quilt Swap. You can get it for $3 in my Craftsy shop!

I remember putting together the baby’s scrapbook for his birth during my maternity leave and feeling like it was so awesome that I could spend some time crafting! that’s when you know, he actually napped for like 2 hours!
My closest JoAnn’s is 30 minutes away so I don’t get to go often.

Ooh, the bluebell is great! A stylised interpretation, but I totally thought “that looks like a bluebell” before I read that far in the text. Well done! 😀

Wow, I literally just got up and my brain is not connecting with my fingers typing… bluebonnet bluebonnet… haha

I love the bluebonnet. When I saw the thumbnail on Freshly Pieced, I thought it looked like a bluebonnet but I didn’t know if you called it that! The fabrics you used are super. Cute tote idea. Great job.
