Size of the Baby: Around 4.75 pounds and 18 inches long, aka the size of a cantaloupe. I don’t like cantaloupe, but Emma and Jose do, so there you go.
Weight gain/loss: Right around 25 pounds, so totally normal. And still no swelling — hooray!
I took this photo while we were waiting on Jose in Macy’s last weekend, so this was me at 33 weeks, not 34. But hey, who’s counting right? (Ha.)
Maternity clothes: Same as last week — still looking forward to getting rid of them.
Sleep: I’m still sleeping better than in previous months! Magical! Although I did have one night this week where I kept waking up from vivid and scary dreams about babies falling on their heads and tornadoes. Yeesh. I could do without any more of that.
Movement: Still frequent, but things don’t feel as jabby or pokey anymore. Instead, her movement is more rolling and pushy, like she’s stretching after a nap or something. It’s borderline uncomfortable at times, but I still like feeling it.
Food cravings: Other than wanting to eat Jose’s leftover cheesecake from meeting a couple of his relatives for dinner last Friday night? Um…nothing else.
Best moment this week? We had another full and fun weekend, with a birthday party for one of Emma’s friends last Saturday, a trip to see Minions with her buddy Keagan on Sunday morning, and family fun at the pool on Sunday afternoon. Minions was the first movie theater movie for both of the kids, and they did really well! I think Emma liked it, although she seemed a little overwhelmed and/or overstimulated at the end.
What I miss: I went to book club on Tuesday night, and for the first time in this entire pregnancy, I reallly missed not being able to have a glass of wine. But soon! Soooon.
What I’m looking forward to: The weekends are coming fast and full these days, and this one is shaping up to be no different. We’ve got tickets to the circus tomorrow which I think Emma will really enjoy, and I plan to make the trek to Ikea either tomorrow or Sunday to get a bookshelf for the baby’s room and a few other things.
Milestones: It’s hard to believe I’m already at 34 weeks, and that this baby will likely be making an appearance in the next ~6 weeks. For better or for worse, I have not spent a lot of time really thinking about what she will be like, and how our family will adjust. In contrast, I spent a lot of time thinking about that sort of thing when I was pregnant with Emma. I know that is pretty typical of first vs. subsequent pregnancies, but I do feel like I need to take some time outs in the coming weeks to just relax and get ready for this new big round of changes headed our way.
