Size of the Baby: Nearing 4 pounds and 17 inches long, according to the internets. Also, “she now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz).” Wonder if she’ll have as much hair as Emma did?
Weight gain/loss: About 23 pounds according to my scale yesterday. I’m basically right where I was with Emma, which is kind of neat. For a while I was ahead, but it’s been hard to eat much lately without immediately feeling uncomfortably full, which has probably helped keep the weight gain under control.
Maternity clothes: I basically wear the same 5 outfits to work every week and am getting really tired of them.
Sleep: I am tired. That is all. (This has much more to do with having three 6 a.m. meetings at work this week than it does with being pregnant.)
Movement: Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, POKE. Emma felt the baby move for the first time. I haven’t really bothered to try to get her to feel it before, but the baby was moving a lot as I was reading Emma a book the other night, so I had her put her hand on my stomach. “She’s pushing me!” said Emma…before losing all interest and wanting to go back to her book. Ha.
Food cravings: Last pregnancy I had a thing for cherry limeades. This time it’s Vitamin Water. Go figure. On a food-related front, I’ve started to have a bit of heartburn on and off. I remember this from last time too, and it hasn’t been anything a couple Tums can’t fix, so hopefully it won’t get any worse.
Best moment this week? Hmm, probably the quinceanera in Corpus Christi last weekend. It was SO much fun watching Emma run around in her little fairy outfit and dance with Jose. For at least 5-6 songs in a row, she only wanted to stay on the dance floor, and only wanted to dance with her daddy. It basically made my heart melt into a little puddle.
What I miss: Being able to bend over easily. I guess last time since I didn’t also have a preschooler, I didn’t need to bend over as much?
What I’m looking forward to: A weekend at home after spending the last two out of town! I’ve got some baby prep on the agenda, Jose and I are going on a date, and I’m pretty sure there will be at least one trip to the pool for some swimming fun.
Milestones: Last time I wrote that I was having some minor swelling in my hands and feet. I haven’t had that issue at all this time around! It probably helps that as far as summer in Houston goes, this one has been relatively mild thus far — we haven’t even hit 100 degrees yet. (Now that I said that, it will probably get insanely hot.)
Things are moving along at rapid pace and I really can’t believe I’m 7+ months pregnant already. With the way work has been going lately, I’ve been saying only half-jokingly that maternity leave will be downright relaxing compared to my job…at least in the sense that at least on maternity leave I will only have to worry about the baby and not all the meetings and documents and reviews and issues I’ve been dealing with for the last couple months! (Truth be told, I am pretty proud of the way I am rocking it at work right now. I have had a lot of work-related successes in recent months and it feels good.)
