Well, Tropical Storm Bill turned out to be a total bust despite — or perhaps IN spite of — the “end of the world” hype that the local media was broadcasting. Yesterday was overcast and breezy with periods of rain…but nothing significant. Maybe 2-3 inches, tops, at our house? We’ve had a lot worse from standard, non-tropical storms!
Nonetheless, many of my work commitments (read: meetings) had been preemptively cancelled to allow people flexibility in case the weather really had turned out to be bad, so I decided to stay home. Jose was in the same situation, so we kept Emma too and all enjoyed a kind of “tropical storm snow day.” I did some telework, he did some telework, and Emma got a lot more iPad time than she normally does — and refused to take a nap on top of that. (She finally passed out around 4:30. Despite her efforts, the girl is NOT ready to give up naps just yet!)
It was simultaneously both nice and exasperating to spend the whole day in the house. Somehow the day felt very, very long and yet somehow we all went to bed satisfied too. Back to “real life” today…

Ah, yes. A big bust! Daycare closed at noon for me and I knew trying to work with an active 9 month old wasn’t going to happen, so that was minimal!
If it hadn’t flooded three weeks ago they wouldn’t have freaked out as much.

We got some rain from that storm! Rained all night and most of the morning. I love being home with my little family too, but sometimes those days where you’re all stuck in the house together feel so, so long!
