This year I’m participating in Ali Edwards’ One Little Word workshop. My word is “enough.” All of my OLW posts are here.
April’s prompt was to either take or gather photos from the year so far that embodied your word. I was immediately on board, so much so that I finished my album page earlier in the month than any other thus far…
…and also ended up liking this page perhaps the best of any in my album! You can see that I included descriptions on some photos, and didn’t on others. Here’s a quick rundown of each one and why I chose it:
Top row: On the left is the tracker (by Elise) that I’ve been using to monitor my goal to read a little for fun every day this year. You can see that I don’t have a perfect record by any means, but I’m adhering to Elise’s mantra that progress > perfection (so apt for my word!) and I love it. In the middle is a photo of Jose and Emma on a carnival ride at the rodeo — just a fun memory of a fun day when hanging out with my family was enough. On the right is a photo I took of Emma on her toddler potty in the bathroom. Potty training is going well all in all, but this photo is a reminder that I need to say “enough” with stressing out about it, and let her figure it out in her own time.
Middle row: On the left is a picture of Emma underneath the rainbow we saw while Jose was in Austin for the weekend — a reminder that I’m continuing to grow and change as a parent. In the middle is the “glamour shot” from my Women@NASA feature, which is the perfect reminder that I am doing a good job at work, am getting recognized in unique ways, and should say “enough” to the career-related stress I’ve been holding on to. On the right is a photo from our 21-week ultrasound! Baby #2 has already forced me to slow down in several ways, and I’m sure she will continue to do so.
Bottom row: On the left is kind of a funny photo — I made Jose take this shot of me in a maternity dress I ordered that turned out to be basically a mumu. It got returned immediately because I’ve had enough of wearing clothes that don’t fit right. In the middle is my favorite photo from Emma’s recent kid’s K, another fun memory of family time this year. On the right is a photo of one of the houses under construction in my neighborhood, and a reminder that while they look awesome, our current house really is enough.
I also took a few moments last week to review the actions I set as part of March’s prompt, and I’m actually doing ok on that front. My biggest fail is the “getting in bed by 10:00” action which totally hasn’t happened. Maybe I need to print a second goal tracker for that one…!
