This is definitely the “baby edition” of Emma-isms…
—
We’re at the park in Charlotte back in early April, and Emma is running around the playground. Suddenly she sees a baby — probably right around a year old — who is toddling unsteadily nearby. She starts walking toward the baby.
Emma: “Looook! My baby sister came out of mommy’s tummy!”
—
We are playing with her toy doctor’s kit. She’s tapping my leg with that reflex testing tool (whatever that thing is called) and I’m wiggling with each tap.
Me: “Bonk! Bonk!”
Emma: “I’m gonna bonk the baby!”
Me (laughing): “No, we don’t want to bonk the baby.”
Emma: “Yeah, she will cry.”
—
Emma: “Your tummy is growing?”
Me: “Well, yes, but it’s going to get a lot bigger before the baby comes.”
Emma: “But it’s already big!”
Me: “….”
—
Emma: “The baby is eating?”
Me: “Well, the baby eats what I eat. She eats what’s in my tummy.”
Emma: “Does she have a plate?”
