Emma did her second race on Saturday morning — the Kid’s K as part of the larger Yuri’s Night 5K in Nassau Bay. She did a great job and then hopped in the stroller for the 5K with Jose and me. It was a really fun family morning!
She was pretty excited about it. I think she remembered her first race last fall, and this race actually had the same start/finish so the surroundings were familiar too.
And they’re off!
She was one of the younger kids, and ended up solo for most of the race. It was fine, but I think she was confused about where everyone else went — she kept saying “where did the race go?”
I thought the Kid’s K was an out-and-back just like the one last fall, and I’d planned to just turn around after a few minutes and go back just like we did last time. But this kid’s course went around the block instead! Emma ended up doing a full kilometer in a combo of running, walking, and a little bit of being carried in the middle.
I tried to take a finish line photo…but she was totally distracted by (and a little worried about) two people dressed up as Darth Vader and another Star Wars character.
We celebrated with kolaches! Yum!
