Emma has been doing a dance class through her daycare since August. From what I can tell, she loves it. But good grief is there a lot of overhead associated with dance class! I found out last week that I apparently missed the memo on getting dance shoes, etc. And I made the executive decision this week that we’re NOT going to participate in the big spring recital because it’s just way too complicated for a 2-year-old.
There are a lot of things I’m good at, but being a “dance mom” is not one.

I thought I had a design plan for one of the baby quilts I’m about to start, and I bought fabric accordingly. But after messing around with it in Illustrator, I changed my mind and it’s back to the drawing board this weekend…

I spent the last three days in a training class at work about “leading complex projects.” I hoped it would be solid and engaging, but it fell a little flat for me. Oh well. On the positive side, Jose took the class too so we got to hang out together at work for three days. Fun!

Jose was able to take his new telescope outside for the first time earlier this week after all the various parts (telescope, mount, etc) arrived. He took this picture of Jupiter from our backyard! Amazing!

Hi! i’m a newbie, found you through Jess Lively’s podcast! As a new attorney, I likely will rock the 9-5 job for a while, so it’s nice to read the blog of someone else who is doing the 9-5 thing, and is a runner/blogger too!
My boyfriend has a fancy telescope but I’ve never really used it with him – the pic of jupiter makes me want to though!

Hi Lauren! Obviously I’m a fan of rocking the 9-5, at least for now. Good luck as you get started in law!
And yes, I was amazed at how good the photo was for his first-ever attempt! (He used a little CCD camera made specifically for attaching to a telescope.) I like astronomy but must admit that I often don’t have the patience to hang out in the yard for hours on end like he does. I love that he loves it though!

Dance costuming is nuts. It’s so ridiculous since outfits have so little to do with dance! Why can’t a child perform in a leotard and tights? Emma would be adorable dressed up like that! I personally have a custom hand-made dress in my closet for Irish dance, as well as three shirts and a pair of black pants I had to buy. I may have more. And outfitting was way scaled back for adults compared to kids. Dresses for school-age kids were like $500!

Good for you for not giving in to the dance cost craziness–for a 2-year-old! And the Jupiter photo is very cool.
