I can’t believe it’s December. I’m pretty sure I say this every year but seriously, it is true. This month I’ve got a couple repeat goals and a couple new-ish goals:
Run and/or walk 58 miles. Way back in January, I set a goal of running or walking a total of 400 miles in 2014. I had some issues in the spring and fell way off that pace, but I realized in late August that if I covered 50 miles/month for the rest of the year, I could still hit 400 for the year. That’s what really has been driving this goal since then, and continues to do so.
(Of course I have a chart. Who do you think I am??
As of today, I’m at 283.5 miles of running and 58.5 miles of walking — 342 miles total. My hip issues over the last couple weeks put me slightly behind again, but 58 miles is still doable. Even if my hip doesn’t let me run long, I’m committing to a lot of walking. I’m so close to 400 that it’d be a shame to let it slip away!
Check 3 things off the “little jobs” list. I really liked having this goal in November also, so I’m keeping it. Probable items for this month include installing the Nest thermostat that has been sitting in the box for a month (argh), hemming 3 pairs of pants (or paying someone else to do it since I seem incapable of it), and cleaning the “half moon” window in our bedroom (which is filthy, but reaching it requires a ladder).
Make a 2014 family album. I’d like to start doing family “yearbooks” of photos and to help with that, I’ve taken 15 minutes each month to pull some of the best photos from that month into a separate folder. Now I have all the photos ready to be dropped into a photobook — so all I have to do is push past the perfectionist in me who wants to design my own layout, retouch all the photos, yadda yadda — and just DO IT.
Finish two books. I’ve had a goal of reading 20 books for the past several years, but this is the first year I’m actually poised to accomplish that! I’ve read 18, and I’m ~25% into #19 right now.
Make all the things. I’m just lumping all my sewing projects into one goal. This month I want to: finish the Wildwood quilt (currently basted), finish my Once Upon a Time sampler, make 2 scarves, free motion quilt 3 blocks for my Craftsy class, start working on something for the Schnitzel & Boo mini quilt swap (due in mid-January), start working on something for the Instagram Tote Swap (due in late January).
Also? I’m forbidding myself from signing up for any more swaps until these two are over!!
Yep, I think that’s PLENTY for this month.
