Emma was lucky enough to have two birthday parties again this year — one here in Houston and one with Jose’s family in Corpus Christi last weekend. I promise this will be the last birthday-related photo dump…until next year at least!
Jose’s mom, Alex and Krystle planned everything, and it was all Minnie Mouse themed, including this giant taller-than-Emma pinata. She helped fill it with candy, piece by piece by piece. It held A LOT of candy, as you can imagine.
First lollipop, which was great until she dropped it in the dirt
The party was actually at Jose’s aunt Ami’s house in Sinton, about 30 minutes from Corpus. They have a bunch of land with a ton of toys — it’s basically a kid paradise. Emma quickly figured out how to push the pedal to drive this truck, although she didn’t understand the steering part so Jose had to help her avoid running into any trees.
At one point, we stepped away to go see Ami’s shop — they opened in January and sell ice cream, fruit bars, fruit bowls, and sandwiches. It’s called Sweet “X”ing because they’re located right next to the railroad tracks. Two trains went by while we were there. I don’t think Emma had ever seen a train so close, and she was fascinated — and also thought the whistle was “too loud!” (I agree. It was very loud!)
We got in the pool for a bit, and after getting out, Emma wasn’t doing so great. She’d had a runny nose for a few days but it suddenly turned into a fever and grumpiness. Thankfully one of Jose’s cousins (who has a 9-month-old) had some kid’s tylenol in her bag. That worked wonders, and Emma perked up within 15-20 minutes.
…although she still wasn’t in the mood for papparazzi…
Frowns aside, Emma rallied for the pinata with the whole family in tow.
And that’s that! Emma’s 2nd birthday is (finally) a wrap!
