Summary
I’ll be back with a whole post about the Lunar Rendezvous 5K tomorrow but — spoiler alert — I did it! I ran the whole 5K without walking! I actually ended up doing a full 3.1 miles of running on Wednesday also, so I knew I could do it at the race as well. There were a couple moments when I wanted to walk, but I pushed through and didn’t stop until the finish line. Hooray!
The big question now is: what next? I signed up for another 5K (the Outrigger’s by the Bay race in Seabrook) on August 2, but I’ll probably take Emma along for that one which changes the game plan a bit. Last weekend I did run 32 minutes straight while pushing her, so I could try to run the whole thing with her — but pushing the stroller is no small feat, especially in the heat of the summer.
But the real question is what to do long term. Having a specific goal — and one that I knew was very achievable — worked really well for me over the last couple months. I need to figure out a new goal that fits that criteria.

Nice job!
Pushing Emma for the next one w/o walking sounds like a good option to me. I always figured that 4 miles w/o Isla = 3 miles with Isla, so it’s kind of like adding an additional mile onto the equation, assuming the course is not hilly. If the course is hilly, that’s a different story.

Yeah, pushing the stroller is way more effort! And this is Houston — definitely NOT hilly. 😉
