Run a 5K without walking. This is the whole goal behind my recent Couch to 5K efforts, and I’ve signed up for the Lunar Rendezvous Run on July 19 to do it. I’ve done this race before, but not in several years and I’m looking forward to it!
Go to the Houston Modern Quilt Guilde monthly meeting. I’m interested in getting to know these guys, but they meet over on the west side of Houston so it’s not exactly convenient for me to go. Still, I want to give it a try this month.
Be in bed by 10:30 on weeknights. Every few months, I make this goal and then slowly over time my bedtime creeps later…and later…and later…until I’m averaging 6-6.5 hours of sleep each night and am totally exhausted by the time the weekend rolls around. Going to bed earlier is a recurring goal for me, and it’s time to do it again.
Make a “Pointy” quilt. I’ll be making a quilt this month as a pattern tester for one of my favorite bloggers! I’m excited to pick fabrics and get started.
Plan Emma’s 2nd birthday party. Seriously, how is she already turning 2? I’m thinking of just inviting everyone over to our neighborhood pool because August birthday = pool party, right?
Finish current book + 1 more. I read 2 books and started a third in only FOUR DAYS on vacation. I haven’t read at that rate in years! Although that rate is only sustainable on vacation, I want to keep it up as much as reasonably possible now that I’m home.

Any book recommendations?
On the going to bed early thing, i find just moving to my bedroom to read a book about 30 minutes before I actually want to go to bed helps that effort. I’ve become a solid before-11 person and I love the 8 hrs of sleep (oh yeah, I have no kid, I get that it is WAY easier.)

Of the 3 I’ve read in the last few weeks, Silver Linings Playbook was the best.

The bedtime thing creeps up on me, too. I’ve been getting better about getting in bed by 10:30 so, but then I spend way too much time browsing FB or going off on internet bunny trails. I need to put the phone down and pick up a good book. I love reading on vacation, though–probably because on vacation I can get lost in a book because I know my husband is around to watch our son. At home, I only seem to be able to read a sentence or two (or FB status or two) before my attention is diverted. We took a two week trip in May (for a funeral and a benefit for my dad, whose house burned down in Jan–not exactly a vacation). I read James Michener’s “Space!
I’m curious to learn more about the pointy quilt!
