I’m doing 30 Days of Creativity this month for the third year in a row, even though it doesn’t seem to be an “official Internet thing” this year. Here’s Week 1 if you missed it.
June 10 & 11 – I continued working on the “tester” quilt of a design I came up with. I’m happy to report that it worked out exactly as I’d planned, except since I used scraps of fabric, I ran out and couldn’t piece enough together to show off the design with its full impact. I’ve got plans to make a whole quilt from this pattern very soon though!
June 12-14 – I spent these three days completing one of my June goals by making a star block for the International Quilt Festival’s ISS/Karen Nyberg-inspired quilt block challenge. I love how it turned out, and I’ll post more details about it later this week!
June 15 & 16 – Several months ago my mom sent Emma another awesome smocked dress, but it was too big at the time and I put it in the closet. I took it out again last week and eek!! Now it’s too small! (I got it over her head, but the chest is too tight.) The thought of Emma never getting to wear this dress was so sad, but fortunately my mom also sent the excess fabric she had left over. I was able to “hack” the dress by ripping out the seams, adding a strip of fabric to each side to increase the chest size, and then sewing it all back together again. It’s not perfect, but at least she’ll be able to wear it through the summer now.
(I consistently underestimate what size clothing will fit Emma, thinking she’ll fit in something that turns out to be too small. She’s not even 2 but already wearing 3T so I need to just realize she’s bigger than I think!)
It had been a few weeks since I’d spent any time at my sewing machine, so doing all these little projects made me so happy! I’m definitely looking forward to more before June wraps up.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your quilt design! I, too, make up all my designs on the computer first. I use PowerPoint and then fill in my shapes with a photo of a fabric (30 quilts into my hobby, I just learned that PP will fill in the pattern into the shape I’ve made. I don’t need to try to crop funky sizes). Now I’m really curious to figure out how to make your design. Please post instructions!!

I use Adobe Illustrator for mine. This is my first go at designs so it’s taking me way longer than it probably should!
