Today I’m loving Jose! Because it’s his birthday! Happy birthday husband!!
Glass art, thanks to our visit to the Museum of Glass. The vase above is part of a collection by artist Dante Marioni that we saw on display. I loved the simple combination of clear and black, and the display contained dozens of vases in similar styles. I also liked how he took the shapes of old vases and jugs and reinterpreted them in a modern way. (I would LOVE to take some sort of glass blowing class now, but the closest I’ve found in the Houston area is way up northwest of town.)
Big Foot Java, and the smaller coffee shacks all over the Seattle area. Jose jokes that he drank 5,000 calories in coffee while on vacation, and that might not actually be too much of an exaggeration. I came home wishing we had some smaller coffee places around here — or anything other than Starbucks, really. (Don’t get me wrong, I love Starbucks, but it’d be nice to have some variety!)
Legendary Doughnuts. Katie took us to this place in Auburn to pick up a dozen doughnuts one morning and OMG, if the Clear Lake area can support its several specialty cupcake shops, why can we not have a specialty doughnut shop?? I don’t even like doughnuts that much, but these were WAY more than your average doughnut.
