It’s been a whole year now since I started setting monthly goals last April. Some months have been great and some months have been forgettable, but I really enjoy coming up a handful of specific things to focus on each month.
FINISH my Master’s Project. Note that I said “finish” and not just “continue working” because this is the month I will really and truly finish! I sat on my butt for years but darn it, I’m proud of myself for finally getting this done. I have an appointment with the UHCL library this afternoon for a “format check” — basically making sure my document has the right margins and font size and all that fun stuff.
(Interesting note: Getting my project underway was also a goal in that first monthly list a year ago. And a yearly resolution before that. And before that. Better late than never, right?)
Finish the front flower beds. Since we ended up doing everything in the yard BUT the flower beds in March, I’m carrying this goal forward to April.
Do a family photo shoot. We did maternity photos and a newborn shoot of Emma, but those were months and months ago and I’d like some new photos of our little family. April should be a great month to do them outside before it gets too hot.
Do Made by Rae‘s spring top sewalong. I’ve followed this blog for a while now and remember her sewalong last year, although I didn’t participate. I have two of her pattens for tops, but haven’t gotten very far in my attempts to make something for myself. (I made a muslin for a Washi top, but never continued to make the real thing.) I always get so intimidated by the self-induced pressure of producing something good enough to actually wear!
…And that’s it. I’m going to stop at only 4 goals this month because #1 is going to be a doozy with all the hoops that must be jumped through in order to finalize my project and graduate in May!

You can be one of the million people we saw taking photos in fields of blue bonnets at Memorial Park. I mean. Seriously there was a line up for each flower.
