I had a lovely birthday on Wednesday that culminated in dinner at the Cheesecake Factory with Jose and Emma, a chat with my parents, watching TV, and then falling asleep on the couch reading a book.
36 is awesome!

I get to celebrate my birthday again tonight. Emma gets to hang out with Erin, Cory and Keagan while Jose takes me to some sort of event. He didn’t tell me what it is, so it’ll be a surprise! Yay!

Tomorrow is the annual parent work day at Emma’s daycare. We didn’t participate last year, but I signed up for this one a while ago. I found out last week that my jobs will be gluing bumpers on bookcases (no big deal)…and cleaning dust and dead bugs out of light fixtures. I’m not too thrilled about that one, but oh well, I’ll suck it up and do my part.

Emma got to lick her first ice cream cone last weekend at Jason’s Deli. As you can see, she was a big fan. However, she gets similarly excited about drinking ice water through a straw, so she is not exactly difficult to please.

I finished the March block of my Once Upon a Time Sampler more than a week ago and am excited to get to work on the April block when it arrives in my inbox next week. In the meantime, I made a bit more progress on the borders — even though I discovered a mistake that made me have to pull out a long section of border. I’m just glad I caught the error early! Here’s a look at my progress so far:

I finally watched Frozen last weekend — ironically, we watched it after Emma went to bed, but she’s a little too young for a full-length movie anyway. I’d heard so many good things about this movie that my expectations were really high, and I’ve got to admit that it wasn’t as spectacular as I thought it would be. Still, I liked it a lot and I’m sure we’ll get the DVD for Emma at some point.

I belong to a Facebook group for my neighborhood, which is both good and bad. It’s good because I find out a lot more info about what’s going on around the neighborhood and around town in general. But it seriously makes me question the sanity of some of my neighbors. The other day someone posted (and I’m paraphrasing here) that: “A man rang my doorbell today. He was wearing a backwards baseball hat and a dirty t-shirt. He freaked me out. Wanted to warn everyone.”
Seriously? The dude probably wanted to ask if she needed her lawn mowed.

Found you via Conversion Diary, and I think you might actually be my alter ego. I spent most of my childhood geeking out about space and wanting desperately to be an astronaut or work for NASA in some capacity when I grew up. Somehow instead I ended up being a violinist… but still, the admiration for people like you remains, along with the occasional daydream.

So funny — I think we really are alter egos, because I spent a couple years in high school wanting to be a musician! (I played flute.)

Found you via 7QT…happy belated birthday! So nice that you got a chance to go out. And also, my son was similarly pleased with watered down orange juice last night. This is why we keep things simple. 🙂
