Jose’s mom is headed back to Corpus Christi this morning, but we had a great time with her here. We did a LOT of stuff over the weekend — bought a car, went strawberry picking (again), did yardwork, ran errands, and watched the final few days of the Olympics. Some photos of the fun…
Grandma also comes up with the cutest hairstyles. I’ve done these pigtails before but they never turn out quite as good. Also? Riding on someone’s shoulders is one of Emma’s favorite activities these days.
Here’s a final photo of me with my old Xterra. (Here’s the blog post from way back in 2004 when I bought it!) I cleaned it out on Saturday morning in case we ended up trading it — and sure enough, we did. I was worried that the engine misfire that developed last week would lower the value even farther, but they ended up offering exactly what we were hoping to get. Who knows what’s about to befall that car next, so we decided to take the money and run. So farewell Xterra! You were a good car.
Emma approves of the new Camry and keeps trying to get into it whenever we go outside, which is pretty funny. The Highlander is more “my” car and the Camry will be more of “his” car — but since we still have only one car seat, whoever takes Emma has to drive the Highlander, which means we end up trading cars a couple times each week. Now that we have a second nice car, we may get a second car seat…but then again, simply trading cars based on who’s doing what has been working just fine for 6+ months now. But now we can’t say “are you taking the good car or the bad car?” Because they’re both good cars!
Yesterday we had lunch at BJ’s where Emma devoured a grilled cheese — I mean, totally devoured it. We’ve gotten this exact meal for her before and ended up with more than half a sandwich left over but yesterday she ate nearly the whole thing. I suspect she’s in a growth spurt at the moment based on how much she’s been eating over the past several days, although I haven’t noticed a change in the way her clothes fit yet. I’ve also noticed that she seems to like eating bigger pieces of food, which leads to hilarious pictures like the one above. She’d rather chomp into something she can hold with both hands than pick up bite size pieces.
We went back to Froberg’s on Saturday for more strawberries. The strawberries weren’t as big and ripe as they were the first time — I think they’ve just had a larger crowd in the past few weeks and are somewhat picked-out at the moment. We did discover a few rows that weren’t as picked over towards the end and filled our bucket with those. But Emma was more interested in running around than in picking strawberries anyway. Such a toddler!
Such a toddler and such a cute one!!
