A few things I’m kind of obsessed with this month…
Ikea toys. When we made the trek to Ikea a few weeks ago, we couldn’t resist picking up a few things for Emma. She picked out the panda bear from a huge selection of stuffed animals, and then we got a set of stuff fruit as well. She loves to “feed” the fruit to the bear and it’s pretty much the cutest thing I’ve seen all month. Plus, the bear was only $5 and the fruit was a whopping $8. Money well spent.
#WhatNASAIsFor on Twitter. A journalist recently published an opinion piece basically calling NASA worthless. These things get published on a fairly regular basis, sadly, but this particular article spurred a grassroots movement online with space fans posting thousands of tweets about what they think NASA is for. It was awesome and totally made my week.
My personal space heater. You have probably heard me complain at some point about how cold it is in my building at work, since the heat has been broken since mid-December. (Why yes, that means it has been broken for 2+ months. I will try to avoid any further ranting about the ridiculousness of that fact.) The only thing keeping it bearable is my trusty little space heater. More than half of the people in my branch have one at this point, I think.
Winter Olympics in Sochi. I’m basically obsessed with the Olympics and have been watching them every night, and during the day on the weekends too. I will watch basically any sport, even curling — the rules of which I am finally started to understand! I have a weird affinity towards biathlon. And I even like ice dancing now, which I never liked much before. In fact the only event I can think of that I really don’t care for is ski jumping. I will be sad when they are over…although I will probably get more sleep without Olympics on TV every night.
Strawberries. I have ~2 pounds of frozen strawberries as a result of our strawberry picking outing a few weeks ago — and will have a lot more after this weekend, since we are planning to go again while Jose’s mom is in town. They are delicious when fresh, but sadly don’t stay fresh for more than a few days. I’ve added several tasty-looking strawberry-themed recipes to my recipe Pinterest board so hopefully I’ll try one of those soon.
