Last night we took a trip to the Houston Zoo for Zoo Lights. I’d never been, and it was a cool event! The whole zoo is decorated with lights and animal shapes and there’s holiday music along with tasty treats like hot chocolate and s’mores to enjoy.
I’d hoped the crowds would be lighter since it’s after Christmas, but it was pretty packed — the line for the main entrance was several hundred people deep when we arrived right at the 6:00 opening time. Fortunately, it moved quickly and although there were a few bottlenecks once we were inside, overall it wasn’t too horrible. Emma loved all the lights and particularly liked the giraffes — the only animals we were able to see, since most of them were asleep.
It took us about 2 hours to make the loop around the zoo — with a pit stop in the middle for hot chocolate and dinner for Emma. All in all it was a fun event and I look forward to going again in the coming years!
Very cool. Our best light display in town is the guy who makes the “magic tree”: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=726580427353783&set=a.721393664539126.1073741826.181701518508346&type=1&theater But I really like the zoo animals.
