Back in 2007, my mom told me about a little boy she knew named Grier Christenbury. He was only 2 1/2 and had just been diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a particularly nasty form of childhood cancer. In the years since the initial diagnosis, he fought it off several times, and each time, it came back.
Last week, after almost 7 years, he lost his battle with cancer. He was 9 years old.
The local news did a short story on his life and those he touched:
WBTV 3 News, Weather, Sports, and Traffic for Charlotte, NC
Grier’s mom brought the Cookies for Kids Cancer campaign to Charlotte, where for the past several years they’ve held bake sales, fun runs, and other events to raise money for pediatric cancer research.
It’s the holidays, and I know there are many, many worthy causes that are always in need of funds. But if you have a few dollars to spare, this is a good place to send them.
Thanks for posting about Grier, Sarah! His legacy will live on as we all continue to fight for and support increased funding for pediatric cancer research!
