Having a baby girl is a lot like having a real, live dress-up doll. It’s hard to resist buying her tons of cute clothes, even though her dresser drawers already contain more than enough tiny outfits. On Monday while we were enjoying the MLK holiday, I realized she is big enough to fit into this adorable sweater dress I picked up on sale at Target a few months ago. I like to put her in some kind of leggings when she wears a dress, especially since it’s winter and all, so her dresses really look more like tunics. Either way — OMG the cuteness!
I’ve noticed when she sits in my lap that Emma’s core is getting stronger. Last weekend, I plopped her down on the floor just to see what happened and lo and behold, she can now sit up for a bit without assistance. The ladies at daycare had also noticed her new strength and gave her plenty of opportunities to sit this week. She’s already better at it than she was a week ago. It’s pretty amazing to see how quickly her body “got it.”
These photos were all taken last weekend with Emma sitting on a blanket on the living room floor. Now that we have the awesome new floor…we need to cover some of it up! Heh. I’ve been searching the interwebs for a nice yet affordable area rug to cover the area around the couch and coffee table. I was worried we’d need something gigantic, but after measuring and marking off areas of floor with masking tape, I think an 8×10 will be enough.
On Tuesday night, we all got to meet Matt and Stephanie’s new daughter Fiona! She’s two months old, incredibly cute, and SO. TINY. She was 5 lbs something when she was born and is 9 lbs something right now. I know that Emma was that small at one point — but just like everyone warned me, I’ve already completely forgotten what that was like! Emma was 6 lbs 5 oz at birth but hit 9 lbs after only a month. By two months, she was almost 12 lbs! Now that I’m well-rested and not immediately postpartum, I wish there were some way to cuddle Emma as that wee tiny newborn again. I guess that’s why people have more babies.
My baby can sit up. Next thing I know she’ll be going off to college.
