Everyone warned us that once Emma started daycare, we’d all get sick. But the first couple weeks came and went and all was well! Turns out that was just the honeymoon period, as at least one of the three of us has now been sick at any given moment for the last three weeks.
It started the weekend before Thanksgiving when Jose came down with some kind of stomach bug. A few days later, I got it but recovered in time to head to Corpus for the holiday. While we were there, Emma developed a stuffy nose and a cough. She got better once we got back from Corpus, but then Jose caught it and spent several days congested. Then Emma got it again, even worse than before, bad enough that Jose kept her home from daycare on Friday. And then just when I thought I’d managed to avoid a second round, my throat started feeling funny. I got worse as the weekend went on, and then Jose got worse AGAIN. He ran a fever for several hours last night, while I laid around on the couch wishing my whole body would stop aching.
The only silver lining to all this is that Emma seems to have gotten off the easiest. Aside from congestion and coughing, she’s been her normal, happy self. I’m crossing my fingers that this trend continues.
Fun times in our sick house.
