GIRL!
Yep, we found out Tuesday that Baby R is a little girl. It is crazy that I can now say things like “oh I feel HER moving” and “when SHE arrives” instead of IT.
Neither Jose or I really had a feeling either way. I thought I’d be more surprised if it was a boy, and he said he’d be more surprised if it was a girl — you know what you know, I guess.
The ultrasound tech made me laugh, because she just came right out with it. (She knew we wanted to know.) I guess I was expecting some kind of warning — you know, “ok…here we go…are you ready?” But nope! She just said “blah blah, oh here’s this, oh here’s that, oh! It’s a girl!”
Which in the end was fine, because I had NO idea what I was looking at. At 12 weeks, her entire body fit onto the ultrasound screen and it was easy to make out her form. This time around I was always asking the ultrasound tech to clarify what we were actually seeing!
She was shy — or stubborn, take your pick! — and we didn’t get a good look at her face because she was firmly entrenched looking at my back and though she wiggled around a lot, she ignored several efforts to get her to actually turn her body around. There’s a chance my doctor could ask for another ultrasound to get a better look at baby girl’s face. I definitely wouldn’t complain, since it’s always fun to see her! But everything else looked great and I’m just happy to know she’s healthy in there.
On Tuesday after work, Jose and I went to Target and bought a pack of girlie onesies to celebrate.
We’re having a girl!
