Scene from my walk on Wednesday
Back in January, I posted some goals for the first quarter of the year. Let’s see how I did…
Complete my M.A. project? It’s not done, but the actual goal wasn’t to have it done by March. I’ve made some progress. Read 4 books? I read 5! Woo! (This was drastically aided by the Hunger Games trilogy.) Sew myself a skirt? Done! I haven’t posted about it yet because it wasn’t a complete success, but I sewed myself one of these easy maternity skirts. The sewing part itself was fine, but it’s not the most flattering cut for me — it looks a little bulky at the top. I want to try again with a pattern that is more of an a-line. Declutter/clean up the study? I actually made great progress on this through the end of February by setting a timer for 30 minutes and doing what I could…and then totally backslid through March when I was spending a lot of time in there working on the Miss Houston pageant program.
So I figure it’s time for some goals for now through June! This may be the last quarter I get anything done anyway, since baby will be here in August to upend our lives forever. (Yay! But scary!) Here we go:
Get ready for baby! Um, I have a VERY long list of things to do before baby arrives. It includes everything from buying a new (or new-to-us) car to putting together the baby’s room. And a WHOLE LOT of other stuff, obviously.
Sew another quilt. Recipient TBD. (Although of course, yes, I do want to make one for my own baby!)
Read 5 books. Goodreads had a little “yearly challenge” thing that I signed up for in January, and I said I’d read 20 books. I’m on track through the end of March and should be able to continue.
Keep exercising. I know this won’t be entirely in my control, but barring something unforeseen, I do hope to be able to continue walking or swimming through the summer even as I get larger.
Complete my M.A. project. I need to make serious progress on this. Baby is providing such a convenient deadline for everything, isn’t she?
That sounds like a pretty good list. Heck, “get ready for baby” will be enough of an accomplishment!
