Happy Birthday to me! Another year in the “life of Sarah” is in the books and while 33 had a couple really rough spots, 34 is definitely arriving at a happy time and I’m fully expecting it to treat me well. It’s a beautiful morning outside and I’m drinking my free birthday Starbucks. Life is good.
When we woke up on Saturday morning, Jose told me he had surprise plans for that night — he got tickets to the TUTS production of Annie at the Hobby Center! I was so excited. Annie is one of my favorites, and while I’d seen a small local production years ago in Charlotte, I’d never seen a professional version. Our tickets were on the orchestra level about 30 rows back, which was close enough to really see the actors and their expressions. It was great. Annie was played by a 4th grader from Brenham and she was quite impressive. The rest of the orphans were great as well. All the kids got a standing ovation at the end of the show.
(Little known fact: when I was about 5 years old, my friend Laura and I had matching red and white Annie dresses. I’ll have to see if I can locate a photo someday. I bet my mom could come up with one.)
Thanks to my awesome husband for a lovely birthday date!
